Carl Brashear was one of the most inspirational figures of the 20th century, defying racial tensions, disability and the weight of history to become the U.S. Navy’s first African American and first amputee Master Diver. Oris is delighted to present the second limited edition watch made in his memory, a bronze-cased, two-counter chronograph. The watch case is solid bronze, water resistant to 100 metres with rotating bezel, reminiscent of the first diving helmets used by Carl, and designed to age and patina individually according to the skin and elements the watch faces, giving each piece its own unique identity. Matched with this, is a simple sturdy brown leather strap, with bronze buckle. The dial is a simple bicompax, showing running seconds and 30 minute counter, with highly luminous hands and markers, on a striking dark blue dial.Powering the watch is an Oris calibre 771, their first ever model using this movement, a self winding automatic chronograph, with 48 hour power reserve, and bicompax layout.Limited to a numbered edition of 2000 pieces worldwide with exclusive wooden box and certificate, this celebrates history and strength.
